Literature Text

The crackling of the fire
the beating of the drums
the pace quickens
the crowds gather
all together now

the earth trembles
the angels wait
with bated breath
as the battle lines are drawn
and we take sides

is that smoke I smell?
As what we built
descends into ash
over a hundred thousand years
lost to the past

all life continues
to make it to
the other side
like the phoenix
we shall rise again
This is actually old. From April, this year. Wrote, but didn't post.

Funny now it seems to have more meaning than it did then! Funny. In a not so funny kinda way.
