The failure of the Cosmological argumentI haven´t written anything in a while, so I decided to write this both as a mental exercise and because my watchers are probably wondering if I´m still alive :). But it’s also something important I want to give my thoughts on.

We’ve all heard of the cosmological argument, one of, if not the, most common arguments for the existence of a god. For those who don’t know, this is how the argument goes:

1. Every finite and contingent being has a cause.
2. A causal loop cannot exist.
3. A causal chain cannot be of infinite length.
4. Therefore, a First Cause (or something that is not an effect) must exist.

Up and Down    Do you ever wonder why ‘up’ is up and ‘down’ is down? Who ever decided which way it up and which way is down? If up is always in the direction your head is in then, when you stand on your head, had down become up?
    If that is the case then one must also wonder about what we consider left and right. Left is always to the left of up, right? So now, say you are on your head, then right is to the left of up and left is now to the right of up. It is like directions no longer have any meaning.
    Let’s go back to considering the conundrum of ‘up’ and ‘down’. Say you were to point up, then to someone in Australia you would be pointing down. Latched onto that thought is this, if the earth were perfectly clear and you looked down to see a person on the other side of the planet, wouldn’t you also be looking up at them? The Art of Meditation Part IIOkay. Lets say that you are doing your breathing exercises. And working with a set time to relax. And you are getting rather comfortable with it. SO! Let's take it to the next level!

Find your comfortable spot. Sitting or laying down, doesn't matter. But try to make sure you won't be disturbed for awhile. Try.

And do your breathing for a bit. Lets say the standard five sets of five. Calm yourself down.

Pain is Pain

Pain is pain.

You can not compare one to another. There is no way. Both are pain. That is the base, what they have in common.

Each person will experience it completely differently.

To see someone in pain and say how you have seen others, who you judged to be in a worse situation or more pain, is a great injustice. And means you do not comprehend the base of this.

Pain is pain. It is that simple.

Very true... Some people may go through more pain than others, but some can handle it better too. If someone can deal with pain easily, than it's not much to that person. There are also different kinds of pain, which people handle differently.

My point with this is one person can not trash another's pain because they think it isn't enough or qualifies as pain. Like they think they have been through more, or they don't see the level of it.

What happened is I screwed up. I let my little mask slide and told my landlord that I wasn't all bright and chipper and things weren't well. So he told me about seeing this man in a wheelchair, head tilted to the side, obviously some kind of serious trauma and such. And he said "Well I think nothing I feel could be that bad!" He trashed what I was going through at that particular time because obviously it couldn't be real pain.

That is the kind of stuff I'm talking about.

Yeah... That's basically what I was trying to say

I hate it when people downplay the pain I'm going through. You know, if it's because I'm "weak", then I accept that. But it doesn't change the fact that it's just as difficult for me to deal with. I don't see how that gives others the right to look down on me. Especially since it's those people, usually haven't gone through much in their life

So the same applies to them, sure... but they have no right to talk, ya know?

Oh yeah. I know. I do. And how are you "weak"? Compared to . . . ? It's all bollox. It's just some guilt or total lack of compassion that makes people downplay pain of another. Most of the time, if it was them, they'd raise the roof, make sure EVERYONE knew their pain. It just drives me crazy.
